David went out to visit with a school friend for the afternoon so I stayed chatting with his mother. The conversation was varied but one topic was the upcoming wedding of David's brother - in February.
We then moved on to weddings in general and we were looking at all the wedding photos hung in the sitting room.
Sheila (david's mam) was talking about her wedding photo - and how she wore her sister in law's (Dymphna) dress. Dymphna is David's Uncle Peter's wife - this is who mam and I stayed with when we were in NY in August.
The dress would have been purchased in America, worn by Dymphna and then it was either posted or somebody brought it back to Limerick - Sheila cannot exactly remember.
Sheila then mentioned that she still had the headpiece upstairs so I was very excited to hear this - I love vintage/old stuff! She kindly got it down to show it to me. It cost £3 to buy - her nursing wage at that point was £45. She also noted that her wedding cake cost £10.
I took some photos of both the headpiece and the wedding photo - see below - I hope you enjoy seeing the 42 year old headpiece as much as I did!
