Yesterday I went up to the attic to find my wedding outfit. Boy, is it a mess up there. I think I might have a bit of a hoarding problem :-(
Anyway, I wanted to take my dress down and put it in it's box into a wardrobe because I think it might be getting a bit musty up in the attic.
For posteritys sake here are some photos of my wedding "trousseau".
Boxes I have everything stored in
Dress, veil and jacket (bolero) pack very neatly into smaller box!
I bought the veil in Hickeys for approx €40. It was pure white so I dyed it with a mix of tea and coffee. It was darker on my wedding day I think, the dye seems to be fading.
The dress is from Debenhams. I had vouchers from an incentive in work so used them to purchase it.
So as far as I am concerned it cost me nada! :-)
The dress is a very simple "prom dress" style. The little jacket changes the look altogether, and I think, made it look quite vintagey.
Which brings me on to the the jewellery and my necklace which was vintage.
I bought it in Powerscourt Towncentre in Dublin city.
My headpiece was vintage also! Enid bought it for me on the internet. I absolutely adore it.
I fear it has seen it's best days though :-(
My shoes were from TK Maxx and my little bag was from Monsoon.
Here is a photo of two of the bridesmaids dresses.
Lydia's on the right and Enid's on the left. Katie wore her debs dresss! Which co-incidentally was a black version of Lydee's dress so it all co-ordinated very well.
Final thoughts on my wedding outfit!
I am not a big fan of spending a huge amount of money for what is one just one day. I have actually worn my dress since (to a Christmas party) so I reckon it has more than earned its keep at this stage.
I plan on keeping all items pictured above and who knows sometime in the future somebody else could be blogging about their "vintage wedding dress"!!!!!
Here are 2 pics from my wedding day:
